Office 365 Outlook will not open

Can somebody explain why Outlook will not open for me, but both times I have had online assistance from a MS technician it has opened immediately so there appears to be no problem and nothing to fix?  The next time I try to open Outlook it doesn't get past 'Loading Profile'

Hi,

I would like to know what type of account you have configured in Outlook. (POP3, IMAP, Exchange ActiveSync or an Exchange account)

Was there any updates installed.

Meanwhile let us right click on the empty area of Taskbar.

Select Task Manager

When Task Manger open, Click on Startup Tab.

Now in the list of all Startup Programs, choose Outlook to disable

Right-Click & Select Disable.

Once done let us try opening Outlook in safe mode and check. (Safe mode disables all the add inns.)

To do that, close Outlook. Let us type in ‘Run’ in the search bar next to start button, click on the 'run' icon that appears – in the 'Run window' type in Outlook /safe and hit ok. (Note: There is a space between Outlook and /).

If the application works fine safe mode, try disabling the add ins for the application and check the result,

Click the File tab.

Go to Options.

Click Add-ins.

In the Manage section, select COM Add-ins and click on Go.

Now uncheck the Add-ins and click on OK.

If issue persist, kindly upload the Windows log files.

I hope the above suggestion helps. If you need further assistance, get back to us and we will be glad to assist you.

Thank you.

Thanks for this, Harsha.  Sorry for the delay in replying.  I followed your instructions for disabling add-ins, but it hasn't solved the issue.  Outlook does not get beyond 'Loading Profile' when I try to open it.

I do not know what type of account I have configured in Outlook and I did not install any updates.  I simply installed Office 365.  All the apps appear to be working expect Outlook.  What I still don't understand is why Outlook opened when I was connected remotely to an online technician, but will not do so when I have tried later.

Re-start your PC, wait until its fully loaded, then hold the Ctrl key when starting MS Outlook - does it then start?

I think I should clarify my previous short reply.  I meant that holding the Ctrl key only opens Outlook in safe mode.  I have unchecked all the Add-ins, but it still will only open in safe mode.

Thank you for the note about holding the Ctrl key then select Outlook.  That did open Outlook for me, in safe mode.  I selected File, Options, Add-ins, at bottom...I selected the Go next to Manage: COM Add-ins.  I looked at the COM Add-ins, and the only one checked was iCloud Outlook Add-in.  I unchecked that box, closed out Outlook and then it opened correctly.  I've been trying for more than 10 days to find this information.
