Office 365 OneDrive Retention does not create PreservationHoldLibrary

Hi cummunity,

I added a new policy under "Security&Compliance"->"Data governance"->"Retention".
The policy was created for a one OneDrive Account: https://xxxxxxx-my.sharepoint.com/personal/tester02_xxxxxxx_onmicrosoft_com

Now I have created and deleted some files on the drive. But there is no PreservationHoldLibrary Library created:

https://xxxxxxx-my.sharepoint.com/personal/tester02_xxxxxxx_onmicrosoft_com/PreservationHoldLibrary/Forms/AllItems.aspx

I don't get a result. What's wrong with my policy/request ???

Thanks in advance

Stephan

Do you have sufficient permissions to browse the content of that person's ODFB? And is there any document that qualifies for the preservation hold library? Easy test is delete something (you can immediately recover it from the recycle bin).

Hi Stephan,

Besides @Vasil’s replied, I’d like to add some points:
1.Please first delete some files in your OneDrive for Business library and click Setting Gear> Site Settings> Site Libraries and Lists. Then check whether you can find the Preservation Hold Library.
2.Please try to create a retention policy for a SharePoint site to check whether the issue persists.
3.Login to Office 365 Admin Center> Admin Centers> Security and Compliance> Data Governance> Retention> Select the retention policy you created for OneDrive for Business and share a screenshot similar as below with us.

Regards
Fraser

Hello Fraser,

as I checked the policy in the admin center I saw an error under the status.

Can I fix this issue or do I have to call MS.

best regards

Stephan

Hi Stephan,

Regarding this issue, please try to delete it and recreate it to check the outcome.

If the issue persists, I’d like to confirm the following:
1.Is this the policy that you mentioned your first post which didn’t work in your OneDrive for Business or a newly created one?
2.For SharePoint site, please note that we need to set it as below (Not the full sites URL similar as https://mod363236.sharepoint.com/sites/TTS/SitePages/TestWikiPage.aspx).

Regards,
Fraser
