Office 365 Domain Host: Redirect traffic to another website

Hello,

My client has a domain which was purchased directly from microsoft and is hosted/managed in his Office 365 account -- www.example.com

We have built a website for him and put it on another domain -- www.newsite.com

I would like to redirect all traffic from example.com to newsite.com with a permanant unmasked url redirect using newsite.com's SSL.

Typically this is very easy with any domain host, but I do not see these settings inside Microsoft 365 admin center > Show all > Settings > Domains

Hopefully this is an easy setting that I've accidentally glossed over.

Thank you for your time.

Answer

Hello Esteban Vollenweider,

Based on our knowledge, generally when DNS is hosted in Microsoft 365, it’s not feasible to redirect URL to other domain and services. As redirection URL is not feasible, we have search more and found that same suggestion posted on our Microsoft 365 UserVoive site on https://office365.uservoice.com/forums/273493-office-365-admin/suggestions/41262412-make-a-new-option-for-dns-record-type-dns-url-30 . We set that forum to collect your votes using feedback for Microsoft 365, and the development team will check your suggestion there and may consider to develop it. Therefore, we would like to suggest you to kindly give your valuable vote and also based on your requirements post your comment on this feature. Your voice is helpful for better using experience.

You may try to use new domain in your developing site and verify it in Microsoft 365. Further information will share you via the Private Message, please check it.

Many thanks for kind understanding and co-operation.

Thanks and regards,

Ankita Vaidya
