O365 forms, cant find a way to add date and time stamp? Only date?

How do I add time fields to forms? Or is there an option to use date picker with a time stamp?

Objective is to include a start time and an end time in forms. My form tool is incomplete on not enabled , or where do I enable the good features somewhere not obvious? I want to transfer resulting form data cells to a sharepoint list using power automate?  Everything seems half baked and in some sort of alpha stage? The version of forms I have seems incomplete to the point I can't seem to map the fields in forms to the field capabilities of sharepoint?

If forms is not ready, Is there a way to map a google form to sharepoint, because google forms allows for time stamps?

I experimented with power apps quickly abandoned the effort, finding just phones and tablet layouts. That leaves me with forms and flows. However forms does not provide the proper fields to align with the fields in sharepoint.  Infopath was an awesome tool but its being replaced by forms, but forms does not seem ready. So many roadblocks.

Its like the sharepoint problem where some webparts don't work with new edge and require explorer.  I thought that browser was sunsetting also? The whole o365 suite of tools does not seem to mesh well yet?

So how do I add time fields to forms and translate that date and time to list data?

Please advise.

thanks

Dear RAETX,

Welcome to the form here.

Microsoft Forms may be less allowed to be customized. So the time stamp feature isn't available in Microsoft Forms now. For the modern experience of SharePoint Online, InfoPath is replaced with Power Apps and the workflow is replaced with Power Automate. So I suggest you design the form with Power Apps.

You can create a site list on a site in SharePoint Online and then click on Power Apps>Customize forms to access Power Apps to design the form. Then the user can fill the form and the data will be updated to the site list automatically.

You can just use the Test Input in Power Apps to insert Start Time and End Time and add the button of Submit and Reset for users to submit and reset their inputs.

For Submit, you can use the formula for example SubmitForm(SharePointForm1);NewForm(SharePointForm1). For Reset, you can use the formula for example ResetForm(SharePointForm1);NewForm(SharePointForm1).

The basic form preview in Power Apps.

The form view in SharePoint Online.

Moreover, you can also add a modern page and embed the form with the Power Apps web part for users to fill the form.

You can customize the form as you like in Power Apps.

I also suggest you submit your feedback on the Microsoft Forms UserVoice platform to let our product developers know your suggestions and requirements for product improvements. If they have some updates on the feedback you submitted, they will update the information there directly.

Thanks for your understanding and have a nice day!

This is helpful, Thank you.

However in my brief experience with power apps, I was constrained to a tablet or phone form factor. I really have no interest in that design limitation. The form works for a lot of reasons, but seems so incomplete without time fields. Really a gross oversite.

Are you suggesting I can create a sharepoint page that is actually a power app without a tablet or phone layout constraint?

Dear RAETX,

Thanks for your reply here.

I'm afraid that the form connecting to SharePoint Online source with Power Apps may be designed with the tablet or phone layout.

As Power Apps may be not the best choice in your environment now, I kindly suggest you submit your feedback on the Microsoft Forms UserVoice platform to let our product developers know your suggestions and requirements for product improvements and hope that they can add the timestamp feature and allow more customization in the later versions of Microsoft Forms. If they have some updates on the feedback you submitted, they will update the information there directly. So I suggest you keep close eyes on the platform as well.

Thanks for your understanding and have a nice day!

Yes the whole phone and tablet layout are just non starter from a corporate stand point. Great for fun and games but not not a professional user interface. However, I maybe close to a cumbersome solution with forms, forcing the tool to behave. currently I am branching to a choice, where predefine hour times are selected and then, branch to minutes. Then process this in power automate to create a time stamp.

Forms could be such an outstanding tool if there was more flexibility in the layout and the tools align with sharepoint.  Similar problem with power apps, where the templates for phone and tablets are a non starter, requiring so many page flips and fumbling, yet the tools appear to align better with sharepoint.

Time for a hybrid solution.

Thanks for the help
