not recognizing my Office 365 subscription

I've read a few people's posts with the same problem, but the solutions didn't seem to help (sign out on the app? but it keeps asking me to sign in!) I've even completely wiped my computer and re-downloaded the app, in case downloading it before signing up for Microsoft was a problem (had to wipe and reset the computer for another reason, I just hoped it would also fix this. It didn't.)

So: Step 1, I open a document (or in this case, open the app and select to open a new blank document). It tells me I don't have a subscription, or if I do, would I like to activate it.

When I click Activate, I'm brought to this page:

I click on the blue sign-in, which brings me here:

No subscription found! Sadness!

So I think yeah ok sure, let's start this free month/register again. Clicking that brings me here:

So I select the program I want, and I click on subscribe, which brings me to this window, which wants me to log in to my Apple account.

Which brings me here:

Hey, look at that, I'm currently subscribed! I sign in again, because I'm happy to do what I'm told, and:

Yup.. there it is. Confirmation that my free month is going straight to hell, where all my hopes and joy now also live. And just for kicks, when I close this window, I get this notice:

Almost as if it is mocking me.

I'm on a 2017 Macbook Pro.

Oh, and here's what I did, what I think the suggestion was - I go here:

I sign out from within the app. And it basically brings me to the process outlined herein. So perghaps I've misunderstood what "CieraWood" meant by "So, I actually signed out of my Microsoft Word account via the app and it worked!"

And this suggestion just makes no sense to me:

but I follow the link and.. I'm already signed in:

and I'm not really sure what to do here. What I can say is I'm using the same email for both accounts.

And finally, when I go into the App store, this is what I see:

and can you guess what happens if I click OPEN??

Please help me before I jump off a bridge.

Thank you.

I followed the link in the answer, and I followed all the instructions, which ended with downloading the older version (15.41). I opened it. I was asked to sign in. Guess what happened next?

The colours of the notification are different so hey... I guess at least there's that?? But... yeah. Getting real discouraged here.

At first glance, it appears I have a subscription:

But when I click on "Show all my subscriptions," it looks like it expired in 2013?

And when I click renew, it doesn't seem to have the one month option, and as you can imagine, especially after all this, I'm reticent to pay before I can test to see if it even works!

So, the screenshots you provided clearly show you don't have a valid active subscription. If you want a subscription, you will need to buy one. Your last subscription was from 2013 and it expired. You can, of course, renew it.

I am reposting the screen shots from my original post, which demonstrate that, according to the App store, I do have a subscription, for which I signed up on May 16.

The challenge I'm experiencing is getting my Microsoft account to acknowledge the subscription I made through the App store.

And if I'm not entitled to the free month because I had one 5 years ago for a work computer, than I think we might be at an impasse. Because I'm definitely not ready to commit any money to a system that is clearly not working, until I know I'll actually be able to use it.
