MS Office 2010 product activation required

I have been using Outlook/Word...  for years.  About 2 months ago It required me to activate the suite.  I tried using my old produst key which it accepted.  When I tried to use Outlook the I recieved the same message.  I researched the discussions here and tried whatever made sense - all to no avail.  It seemed to me that the easiest solution would be to talk to a MS tech but I cannot fine a phone number.  Any help would be appreciated.

I am using MS Office 2010 Pro on an old XP Pro v2002.

Hello Richard,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Office Community.

Please provide more information before we proceed:

1) Do you receive any error when you try activating the Office suite? If yes, what is the complete error?

2) What are the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far (include all)?

3) Do you have any other version of Office suite installed on your computer? Check the same by going to Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs.

Try activating the Office suite over the telephone following instructions mentioned in the article below and verify the result:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/sharepoint-workspace-help/activate-office-2010-programs-HA010354227.aspx

Hope the above information helps. Reply with necessary information and the result to help you further.

Thank you.

I will try to answer in order:

1) yes.  The header on the screen that comes up (in red) says:

"Outlook Today - Microsoft Outlook (Product Activation failed)" .  The popup screen is the Activation Wizard which has an error code on the bottom of 0x8007232B.  I followed both links for more info and tried everything they suggested to no avail.

2) See 4 below

3) No other versions on this computer.

4)  I tried activating using the link you suggest 4-3 times.  The link had several options and I tried all of them.

Hello Richard,

Thank you replying.

I need more information to help you better:

How did you purchase the Office suite and what is the license type of Office Professional 2010? Is it retail or volume?

Hello Daniel,

I went to the TechNet site and read through around 250-300 entries.  None addressed an Office system that has been working for over a year and then requires Activation.

Hello Daniel,

I am sorry this reply took so long but I have been fighting the big C and relegated this task downward.  I took you advice and contacted http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/existing-customers/activation-centers.aspx above and got a low level tech that led me through all the same steps to no avail.  I spoke to a 'supervisor' that directed me to another tech.  This one wouldn't talk to me with my handing over $99.

At this time I decided to bite the bullet and uninstall/reinstall the entire thing.  Everything look okay.  I found the activate screen and entered (reinterred) my original CD key.  The program accepted in and finished installing the package.  A note said I had to get out of Office and restart it which I did.

I am back to the same "Activation Failed" screen with an error code of: 0x8007232B.  Where should I go from here?  I am thinking of packing it in and reformatting and reinstalling everything.

In the past I have found that whilst free support for a product may have expired if you pay the $99 by credit card, which is the usual charge, if it transpires its a product issue, you are not actually charged

I believe this KB also applies to Office, volume licencing http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929826/en-gb
