Microsoft Word Sub-header Spacing

I am creating a document and am not sure what happened but my sub-headers now have a tab sized indent after the number designating it. I can't for the life of me figure out how to reformat so that this will not occur.

Thanks in advance for any help in solving this.

Your tab setting needs to be adjusted out just a bit so there is room for the before the tab.

I would re-phrase that to: "so that there is more space for the tab space between the number and the text."

That must be done in the Define new Multilevel List dialog.  Select the first level 1 heading in your document and access that dialog and select the level 2 numbering and click on the More button and then increase the setting for the Add tab stop at:.  Then click on OK.

Hope this helps,
