Thanks for your suggestion, Belle. I tried what was suggested in that article. Either I did it wrong, or it just didn't fix the problem. I'll try it again.

I appreciate your reply. Cheers!

Hi I am an independent advisor and hoping to help you today.

May I know if you have Zoom Plug in installed in Outlook? Would you mind trying to uninstall this and see if it can fix the issue?

Thank you.

Thank you -- no I do not have it installed. I learning that others have this problem so it probably is on the MS update list.

Hello Rfinkelmeier,

Glad to help you here.  Same issue might also have different root causes, based on your scenario, it is also recommended you could try:

1. Update Outlook for Mac to be latest for better using experience. Click Help > Check for Updates at the top menu.

2. Clear Outlook cache to let it run at refresh state.

·Make sure you quit Outlook and other Office apps. Go to KeyChain Access.

·Search "Exchange" under Login --> All Items and delete everything

·Search "Office" and delete everything.

·Search "ADAL" and delete everything.

·Launch Outlook.

·You will get the activation prompt and then If account is already added you will see the password prompt. Please do 2-Factor Authentication if asked to and you should be able to login.

If issue still exists, since we have set a dedicated in-app support team for Outlook for Mac, which has richer experience with Outlook for Mac, to help you better, you could also try to contact the in-app support for further suggestions, just need click Help > Contact Support at the top menu, you could communicate with the engineer there directly. Thanks for your understanding and time.

Regards,

Betty

Hello Betty: Thank you for your reply. After following your instructions it worked for the first time Outlook was opened and closed, but then it went back to its old way--it needs to be force closed. I have also noticed that the program shows in the bottom, right-hand corner, "Sync pending for this folder" and never seems to sync unless the program is closed and then reopened.

Hello Rfinkelmeier,

It is glad to receive your feedback. From your description, Outlook always sync pending for certain folder, your mailbox seems to have many emails, right? You may try to move some old emails out of your mailbox via exporting .olm file, and then view whether Outlook can work well then.

In addition, to check whether the issue is related to corrupted profile, you could also try to create a new profile. Note: To avoid data loss, don't remove the previous profile.

Besides, may I know whether you have also contacted the in-app support team? The engineer there may have other insight in this issue, if you got any updates from it, welcome to share with us here.

Regards,

Betty
