Microsoft OneDrive verification code sending takes too long

Hi!

A file has been shared with me via Sharepoint/OneDrive. When I open the file, I need to verify my identity and in order to do so, a code is sent to my e-mail. However, sending the code takes so long that the verification session expires before I get the code. What would I have to do in this situation?

Per your description, OneDrive verification code sending takes too long that the verification session expires before you get the code.

For the situation you encountered, we deeply understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.

 

Currently there is a service incident OD544564 which title is Intermittent delays or problems loading OneDrive for Business content.

User impact: Users may experience intermittent delays or navigation errors when accessing OneDrive for Business content.

Current Status: We're reviewing service monitoring telemetry to isolate the root cause and determine our next troubleshooting steps.

Scope of impact: Impact is specific to users who are served through the affected infrastructure.

 

We recommend you let the file owner who shared with you OneDrive files to contact his Microsoft 365 administrator, go to Service Health Dashboard in Microsoft 365 Admin Center, check whether his tenant is affected by this service incident. If yes, we're afraid the issue you encountered may be related to this service incident. You can let file owner monitor the incident.

 

If his tenant is not affected by this service incident, feel free to post back end let us know, we will continue trying best to assist you further.

I have received several complaints from my clients as the verification code to access SharePoint takes over 10 minutes to be received and then the session expires, so the code is no longer usable. Have you been able to identify a solution to this matter.

We are having this issue. The code is not in their spam. It continues to be expired before the user receives the code. Any next steps would be appreciated. Service Health looks good.

I also have the problem that I am unable to download the shared files with me due to the verification code taking longer than 10 minutes to be recieved. It seems this issue is known for months now so I hope Microsoft will quickly solve this as our company urgently needs to access these files!

Having the same delays with One Drive verification codes. Not seeing any health adversaries for my tenant either.

Tina this is still happening to my company as well as others on this forum. We are seriously considering moving away from OneDrive to send these links because the codes being sent are simply not reliable. Can Microsoft please take a look at this and respond?

We have a case with Microsoft. the agent said - send a link only! I can't believe they recommended non-secure way.
