Microsoft Office professional plus 2016 on more than one computer
Just wanted to know if we’re allowed to use a disc copy of Microsoft Office professional plus 2016 on more than one computer. I switched computers and now I need to install it on a different computer than the one I’d been using before. The old computer
is still active. Can I re-install on my new computer? Will it recognize and allow me to use the product key? I am aware that some software allows the user to switch the machines from my account page. I don't want the Office program sitting in my old machine
-- I bought this program through Microsoft Home Use program
Starting with Office 2016, all Office licenses are associated with your email account. After the initial activation, all license management is handled though the MyAccount site:
http://office.microsoft.com/myaccount
You may uninstall or optionally you may leave it installed, but not activated, on the old machine. This will leave Office in "limited function mode". Basically read and print only, if you want to keep that sort of functionality. It also makes it easier
to quickly flip the license between the machines!
On the new machine, go into MyAccount > Install. It should show the current installation with a "deactivate" link. Click on "deactivate". Now you can install on the new machine, also from inside MyAccount.
