Microsoft Office 2019 version is same as Office 2016.

Hi,

I've just installed office 2019 on my system. But when I looked at  File->Account->About Word, I see that the version shown there was 16.0.10730. Which is exactly same as Office 2016. But I can see 2019 mentioned at all the other places (license etc.)

So, I want to know is it not the final build of Office 2019 and I should wait for some more time to get the final installer ?. Or it is the final build and Microsoft is going to keep the same version for Office 2019 as well.

Hi,

At some point, I expect it will change to version 17, which may be the last version number. Your installation should update to that when it is released.

Note that Office 2019 is little different from Office 365's last releases.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions or require further help.

Office 2019 is based on an older release of Office 365 with a frozen feature set. So, it will show the same build number with a select group of new features you never got in Office 2016. Microsoft has released a lot of features under Office 365 since Office 2016 launched in September 2016. Those are the features you will be getting.
