Microsoft Lists - attachment column

Only ONE attachment column is allowed in Microsoft Lists?

I want to have 3 Attachment Columns to show the file in different stages with dates: e.g. Before approval, Negotiation, Final version with approval. Can't it be shown in the Lists? Remark: As there are usually more than one page in a file, Image Column is not suitable.

Seems the name of the Attachment Column can't be edited, right?

Any alternative? All files with different stage included in ONE Attachment Column is not proper while we focus on the stage of the events.

I find the name of the Attachment Column can be "Rename Column" under "Edit in Grid View". But once, then can't rename again, why?

Dear User,

Good day!!

I understand your requirement and I am sorry to convey that there is no out of the box way in the SharePoint Online to add the multiple attachments columns in the List or Library because the attachment is column is default column which is hidden by default, where it’s not recommend to do the changes to it.

I agree with you having the ability to add multiple attachments will benefit the users and I request you to add your valuable idea as feedback in the SharePoint · Community (microsoft.com) which is the best place to share our ideas and improve the Microsoft products.

Moreover, I believe you can achieve your requirement via integrating the SharePoint Online list with Power Apps and request you to post your concern in the Power Apps Community - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com) to get the detailed help from experts.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. Have a good day!!

Best Regards,
Sophia

Thanks for your confirm.

Another question is the Rename of Attachment Column. Once I can rename it under "Edit in Grid View". However, I cannot rename it again & "This cell is read-only" shown as below.

Q: Is it possible to release it so that I can rename the Attachment Column again (as spelling mistake)? What mistake I made after the first rename from "Attachment" to "Client Speciman" to make it no second rename allowable? It is grateful you can advise any setting I should make. Thanks.

Dear User,

Thanks for writing back to us.

As per the further concern, I would like to share my knowledge on it i.e., the Attachments columns in the SharePoint Online list/library is a hidden column where it’s not supported for editing the item in the Grid view and not recommended to change the change name.

However, I understand you have altered the name of the Attachment column via Edit in Grid View, but the same steps didn’t work for me where clicking on Rename doesn’t respond anything and I have tested the same is multiple lists.

Note: It’s not possible via out of the box way in the SharePoint Online because the Attachment columns is not displayed in the Columns of List Settings or even Item Content Type where the metadata of the new item comes from.

Moreover, I believe you can change back the name of the Attachments column via integrating through Power Apps, since you initial requirement need to check whether integrating the list with Power Apps can achieve your requirement, you can post both of your concerns in the Power Apps and see whether it can be changed.

Hope you can understand and appreciate your patience with us. Have a good day!!

Best Regards,

Sophia
