Microsoft Account problem does not allow me to activate my Office product

Hi All / Administrators / Customer Support,

I bought Office and tried to use it, but when I put in the key and try to log in I get this set of conflicting messages...

I tried contacting customer support but it only took me to the discussion forums.

Could someone please help me? I just want to use the product I bought.

Best,
Michal

If you purchased Office Home 365 then you need to use the email address and password for a Microsoft Account at: http://www.office.com/setup
Microsoft Office Professional 2021
Microsoft Office Home and Business 2019
Microsoft Office Home and Business 2013
Microsoft Office Professional 2003
Windows 10 Professional
HP ProBook 470 G4

Hi! Thanks for the response but this is exactly the link that does not work and following it gives the contradictory screenshots above.

Best,

I suspect that the error messages are typically MS misleading.

I suspect that Office 365 Home will not accept .EDU email accounts.

.

Or are you trying to activate an Office 365 Education subscription?

.

You could try contacting MS Support ... (not that I believe they would have a useful answer ... )

Oh interesting - it did not say that it is an issue anywhere...

It's the Home version.

Do you know what support email I can contact? The website says that the forums are the only option...

That is the point of my "sly jab" at MS. Their error messages tend to be generic and vague. Their general philosophy seems to be "Why create a specific error message when you can "recycle" or "reuse" the same message for multiple different errors ... "

.

Personally, I prefer the online chat, but you can talk to the same people on the phone too.

Online chatsupport:

I recently used online chat support myself. I found it had several advantages over phone support, even though you still contact the same outsourced, support personnel: .

.   · No ESL accent issues

.   ·            Provides you with an instant time stamped transcript

.   ·            When you get transferred to the “right” person, they can review the history

.   ·            If they don’t read the history, you can copy / paste the past conversation to them, saving you having to repeat yourself

.   ·            They are more likely to go off line to ask other people for help (good for you)

.   ·            You don’t have to listen to “elevator muzak” when they are off line

.   ·            You have 2 hands free to surf the web when they are not talking to you.

.   ·            For some reason, I found that waiting for online chat responses intrinsically LESS  frustrating than listening to elevator muzak.

Make sure to copy the text from the chat window and save it before closing the chat window. It is handy to have a timestamped copy of the conversation, if only to publish it on the internet ...

Microsoft Support - Contact Us

http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support#tab0

You can contact MS support  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/  “Virtual Support”

Starting with the Virtual Agent. To talk to a person about your issue, (In theory) You can fight your way past the Virtual Agent / "AI" (automatic idiot?) , by entering "Talk to a person" several  times.
