Mail merge changing dates from DD/MM/YYYY to M/D/YYYY

I've got this on a couple of pc's that are running Windows 10

Both are set to Region of UK. Language is set to UK English. Date is set to DD/MM/YYYY.

The database is an Excel file, which is showing all dates as DD/MM/YYYY

One PC is running Office 2007, the other is running Office 2010

When I mail merge to Word or to Publisher, any mail merged field converts any date to M/D/YYYY, so 1/14/2016

How do I get it to stay as DD/MM/YYYY, so 14/01/2016?

Is this a massive Windows 10 Glitch?

Thanks

Thank you, Bernard.

As per your link - with all word docs closed, I went into Options, Advanced and ticked the Confirm file format

I then found this video which explains very well the additional mail merge text needed for Word.

But when I then went into Publisher 2010 and right clicked on the highlighted merge field, it offered an option to Format the Date/Time.

So I'm all sorted. Thanks again
