Macro sidebar gone in Word 2016

Hello.

So the problem here is when I go onto "View" and then "View Macros" create a new one for my document I experience a problem. This problem is that the sidebar to the left is gone. It used to be a sidebar there where I could press the "+" sign next to "Microsoft Word Objects" where "ThisDocument" should show up.

I have even tried to completely reinstall office but the problem is still there, no sidebar.

How do I solve this, I tried to talk to windows support but they did not know anything, as usual.

Answer

There are two possibilities:

  1. It might have been dragged to the left, in which case, move the mouse until you see the two horizontally opposed arrows and then click and drag to the right.

  2. It may have been closed by clicking on the X in the top right of the Project Explorer window.  To re-open it, go to the View tab and click on Project Explorer.  You may also want to click on Properties Window so that the Properties Window is also displayed.
