Large Excel Document showing a 'refresh' image/icon on some sheet corners (A1) - many sheets!

Within the Excel document I have been working on for some time, an image which appears to be a refresh icon has appeared in the top left of the A1 box - not on every sheet.

I have looked - everywhere I can - to find out what this means and cannot find any answers anywhere.

Therefore, I am asking you, lovely people to help me.... please.

The is also an issue where, another computer within our network is listed as the Author - rather than the originator. The modifier is where I would expect to see this change.

Does anyone know why this might happen?

Since this change the whole document appears to run much slower - in fact, painfully slow.

Any help would be gratefully received, as I am embarrassingly enough, not especially skilled in this programme.

Many thanks,

Ju

Hi Ju,

To better understand the situation, please confirm the following information:
1. Create a new Excel document to check the outcome.
2. Try opening Excel in safe mode. Press Win + R to open the Run windows, Type excel /safe, and click OK.
3. Provide a screenshot of the “refresh image”.

About the issue of Author, please check the User Name option. Click File > Options > General > Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office, check the content for User name, and whether the option Always use these values regardless of sign in to Office is selected.

If the issue persists, we suggest you post a new thread for the Author issue. Let’s focus on the “refresh image” issue in this thread, as this will help other community members to find similar threads quickly.

Jiaxing

Hi Jiaxing

Thank you for your response.

1. Create a new Excel document to check the outcome.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean copy and paste the complete contents into a new spreadsheet?

I have opened Excel in safe mode and attach a screenshot as you suggest. This isn't the original document, I have resaved it as a 'test' document, it is however reacting the same.

Thank you for your help. I will look deeper into the Author issue shortly.

Many thanks,

Ju

Good morning

When a new Excel document is created on any of the computers within the network and the content is copied and pasted this icon pastes in with the file contents. New created sheets (although less detailed) are all fine.

If I add a column at the front the refresh icon moves across. Within the document there are no links or connections to refresh. The icon is as an image which appears to constantly refresh and replace should you try to move it.

Many thanks,

Ju
