Import a word document into another word document

I have a word document with some formatting that I would like to import into another word document.  Trying a copy and past approach copies the text but not the formating, making the import useless.  Is there a way to import the text with the correct formatting?

Thanks in advance for your kind support.

Office Button.

Word Options (lower right hand corner).

Advanced (on the left hand side) then, on the right hand side in the:-

Cut, copy, and paste

 - section make sure that:-

Pasting between documents:

 - is set to:-

Keep Source Formatting (Default)

Click on:-

OK

 - if necessary.

Now copy and paste between 2 documents should copy across the source formatting.

Thanks.

I insured that the settings were as you suggested, but the same format problem persisted.  Any other thoughts?

In the Cut, copy, and paste section to which I referred have you got a tick (check) in the following box:-

Show Paste Options buttons

If not turn it on and hit OK.

Now try the copy and paste once more and, in the destination document, you should get the Paste Options button appearing after you have performed the paste process.

From this Paste Options select (click on) the:-

Keep Source Formatting

 - radio button.

Now does it work?

Same problem.  If I could edit the resulting document, I could correct the formatting, but editing seems to be locked out.  Further the margins of the original document get changed as well.

Found a solution.

1 Insert a Formatted Document into a Word 2007 or 2010 File
2 Open the Word document into which you want to insert a formatted document.
3 Place the cursor where you want to insert the formatted document.
4 Go to the "Insert" tab of the ribbon and click the "Object" button in the "Text" group. The "Object" dialog box will open.
5 Go to the "Create from File" tab. Click the "Browse" button. Find the formatted document that you want to insert into the Word file and click on it to select it.
6 Click the "OK" button. Save the changes to your Word document.

The resulting document had some margin issues which I was able to correct.
