Hello! Vladislav Aventylov

Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Thank you for your interest and support of the Microsoft Community. I would be honored to help you with any questions you may have and I will do my best to assist you.

I understand that when you mark a task as complete in Microsoft To Do, the task reverts back to an incomplete state after some time. If my understanding is incorrect, please correct me.

Before further troubleshooting the issue, I would like to confirm some information to better understand your situation:

  • Are you using Microsoft To Do on a mobile device or a computer?

If it's a mobile device, are you using the iOS or Android version? Is it Windows for the computer version?

  • When you switch devices and repeat this operation, does the issue still occur?

Additionally, you can try repeating the operation using the web version of Microsoft To Do to identify the problem.

  • How do you create tasks? Do you add them directly in Microsoft To Do or use applications like Outlook?

Note: Ensure a stable and smooth network connection when performing these operations. You can also try changing networks or connecting to a mobile hotspot to ensure a good network connection.

Note: If you create a task that repeats on a regular basis (daily/weekly/customized) then when you click Finish once, it simply means that you have completed the task. The next time you repeat the same task regularly, it will appear in the Unfinished Tasks list, and the current task completion will appear in the Completed list. However, the deadline for completing the task will change, do you notice if the time has changed?

I have tried the operation on the web and client versions without experiencing the issue you described. If the issue is not present on the web version, it may be a problem with the client.

In this case, you may need to try repairing and resetting Microsoft To Do.

Note: Repairing does not affect the application's data, while resetting will delete the application's data.

(Since I used Windows as an example here due to not confirming the version of device you are using, if your version is different, please let me know promptly, and I will provide you with the relevant solutions.)

Do the following:

- > Press “Windows Logo Key + I” to launch Settings, select “Apps” > “Apps & Features”.

- > Find the Microsoft To Do app in the app list, click Advanced Options and select the Reset button.

- > Once the reset is complete, reboot your device, launch the Microsoft To Do app, and log in to your Microsoft account to see if the problem is resolved.

I have the same problem. Tasks are periodic and created a long time ago via an Android phone.
