I am unable to sign in to Microsoft Project.

Hello, I have renewed my Microsoft Project subscription and cannot sign in with the email from our organization as I could previously. Please advise.

Hello Nick Christiansen,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble signing in to Microsoft Project.

  • Have you tried rebooting your computer and then check the result?

  • Can you use the same account to sign in Microsoft 365 home page via link https://www.office.com ?

  • If same issue persists, may I know if you meet any error message when you cannot sign in? Could you please provide a screenshot of the error?

Look forward to your reply. Thanks for your time and understanding!

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Sincerely,

Hi Tina,

I have restarted my computer to no success with signing in.

I can sign in via my company email to the Microsoft 365 home page

Below is the prompt I receive when opening the application. And I have verified my subscription payment is up to date.

Hope this helps and thank you.

Hello Nick Christiansen,

Thank you for posting back and sharing the detailed information. I will help you further.

It is possible that Project App cannot get updated subscription information. You may try resetting Project activation state.

  • Close Project. Open Credential Manager > Windows Credentials > Generic Credentials > find credentials related to Office and remove them.

  • To remove previous licenses and cached account information: download the OLicenseCleanup.zip file, extract the OLicenseCleanup.vbs script, and run it using elevated permissions.

  • Then restart your computer again.

  • Open Project App and sign in your account.

You may also refer to other methods in this support article Reset activation state for Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise (The steps apply to Microsoft Project also)

Feel free to post back if you have any update. I'll be glad to help you.

Thanks for your time and cooperation! Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Tina | Microsoft Community Moderator
