Dear All,
We want to activate "Always open read-only" mode for some specific excel files. Normally, it is possible to protect workbook from Info > Protect > Always Read-Only option. How can we do this action for multiple excels? Is it possible to apply all excel files in a folder maybe?

Ask your Admin to create a Read-Only folder on your network drive, copy the files into that folder.
Only users with admin rights in that folder can edit a file.
Andreas.

Dear Oguz Kaan Onculer,
Thanks for posting in Microsoft community.
We go through your description and understand your requirement to apply read-only for all files in a specific folder.
If you want the users only could view the files with read-only mode, you could follow Andreas's advise or set a read-only folder in OneDrive/SharePoint.
If you want the users open the files with read-only and they could edit the files with manually turn off the read-only status, unfortunately, we think the build-in features couldn't meet your requirement so far. We need to change the settings for all files one by one. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this scenario and we recommend you to post a feedback through the feedback feature page to help Microsoft improve this feature: How do I give feedback on Microsoft Office?
We appreciate your understanding and patience, enjoy your day. Hope you are keeping safe and well.
Sincerely,

Hello Sean,
Actually I don't want to apply read-only for a folder. I want to activate "always open read-only" protection for multiple files or folders.
When we apply read-only folder access, users cannot change it.
But the Excel "always open ready-only" allows user to select "edit anyway" and they can keep working in the file. This feature needs to be enabled for multiple excel files. My questions is, how can I do that for all or some selected folders.
Regards,
Oguz

Dear Oguz Kaan Onculer,,
Thanks for your reply.
We understand your requirement to set the Excel as "always open ready-only" and allow user to select "edit anyway" to edit the files. Just like we mentioned in the earlier reply, the build-in features couldn't meet your requirement so far. We need to change the settings for all files one by one.
We know this will increase extra work in your scenario and cause inconvenience, so we recommend you to post a feedback through the feedback feature page to help Microsoft improve this feature: How do I give feedback on Microsoft Office?
Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!
Sincerely,
