How to fix Cell shading in Word on my PC

I recently upgraded to a new HP aio desktop computer (HP Aio Bundle PC, 27" FHD Micro-Edge Display, 12th Generation Intel Core i17 Processor, Iris X Graphics, 12 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, Windows 11 Pro O) and installed Microsoft 365 Office for home personal use. I use my computer for documents which contains cells etc My first experience while working in a document was shading a cell, coloring text or highlighting text does not work. I was unable to find anything online through a google search that would fix the problem. I then uninstalled the Microsoft Office 365 program from my computer and re-installed the program again. Still no success!! So I would be most appreciative for any help I could receive with this problem>

You should be able to select one or more cells, click the arrow on the border button in the Paragraph group on the Home tab and click Borders and Shading to display the Borders and Shading dialog box. Display a fill color to the selected cells via the Shading tab.

I am guessing that these steps are familiar to you.

Do the colors show up in the preview at File > Print? Do the colors print?

Note that some monitors may not display faint colors properly. I see that happening with the wide screen monitors at work.
