How to Draw a Perfect Square in PowerPoint 2010

Hello

I  am      trying  to   draw a   perfect   square   in    powerpoint  2010 I am   thinking  hard    as to why  there is   no  square  in the     auto  shapes   drop down     I  have thought   of   drawing    4 equal  lines  and     joining    them  to form   a square and   use   group  to      form  the  object  I   want  to   ask  why    Microsoft never     offered  a  square  in the auto shapes  ?

How can I   add    shapes such as  the   square  I    will  draw   in   Power Point     to the    auto shapes

Please    give     links       which may explain         the topic in more detail

Girish,

Use the rectangle tool, during drawing hold down the shift key, you will get a perfect square. This is valid for all versions of PPT. As far as I know you can't add shapes to the already available shapes.

This is easy enough to test for yourself (in case it changes in later versions).  Go to the Page Setup dialog box, enter some huge value for Height and Width, then click OK.  PPT beeps at you and sets the first value back to the maximum (56" in 2010). Click OK again and it sets the second value to the max (also 56")

PPT's default unit of measurement will depend on your Windows system settings.  If you're set to US, for example, you get inches.  For the more rational bits of the world, you get centimetres.

Interesting bit:  in MOST textboxes where PPT wants you to enter measurements, you can enter the units as well.  For example:  72 pt (72 points, or 1 inch).  PPT will convert the number to the current measurement system (in or cm).

For some bizarre reason, this doesn't work in the page setup dialog box.
