How to copy space along with content?

I want to copy like this  but when I paste, the space after the line is gone! and now I have to press the Space bar to create a space, which is very annoying when you have to do it a billion times.

I magically managed to do this once, but now I have no idea how to do it again. Is there a way to do this WITHOUT changing any setting in "smart cut and paste"? I don't wanna gain one feature but lose another.

Thank you.

Hello, I'm Oluwaseyi I'm an independent advisor and user like you, I'll be glad to assist with your query.

I believe retaining the format of the text is what you could do.

To do that follow the following steps:

Go to File > Options > Advanced.
Under Cut, copy, and paste, select the down arrow for the setting to change . Pasting within the same document When you paste content into the same document from which you copied the content. ...
Each setting has options you can set: Keep Source Formatting. ...
Select OK.

Regards.
Oluwaseyi.

How did you create the line in the first place?

I tried every "Paste" option. None worked. Can you at least open a Word document and try it yourself?

I can imagine how you feel, it could be frustrating trying to resolve an issue.

I have tried it myself and it worked.

Try checking if the source formatting is retained.

Seyi.

OK, those are just underscore characters which should be supported in all fonts.

Here, I can copy and paste without losing the space character following the last underscore:

In the screen shot, I have nonprinting marks displayed; each dot represents a space character (and each ¶ represents a paragraph mark).

Which are your specific settings for smart copy & paste? Have you changed the defaults?

Looks like turning off "use smart cut and paste" did the trick, but like I said, I don't wanna trade a feature for another one.

Turning off "Use smart cut and paste" shouldn't be required. I have it enabled here. But what are your chosen settings? Click the Settings button.

It looks like this. I still have to turn off Use smart cut and paste by the way. I can copy TWO spaces after the underscores, but if there's only one space, it disappears.
