How do I sync MyDocuments folder to One Drive

I am using business plan 2 One Drive and main thing I am willing to do is to sync MyDocuments folder.

Without moving it away to another location. This does not really work well for me since I have various programs expecting files on MyDocuments folder...

How do I do that?! Thanks.

Hello Timkaa,

Go to onedrive icon and right click over-->settings--> let me know if you see the autosave tab.

If you do have it you can add "mydocuments" folder

I dont want to move the folder. It makes path longer and breaks my programs which require c:/username/documents route. Is there an option to sync it on existing path?

Hi Timkaa,

If your files or folder reside in the known folders such as Desktop, Pictures, and Documents, you can sync these folders with OneDrive for Business but make sure OneDrive and the known folders should be in same directory. For example, if Documents folder is on C:\ and your OneDrive is set up on D:\, then it will not set up folder protection. All folders need to be on the same volume as OneDrive.

For detail steps, please see Sync your Documents, Pictures, and Desktop folders with OneDrive

Thanks,

Neha

Hi Timkaa,

According to this article, if you don't see the Update folders button in OneDrive Settings, you aren't eligible for folder protection. But you can begin saving your files to OneDrive by changing the selections next to each folder name from This PC only to OneDrive. You'll be prompted to protect important folders only if you're eligible.

In addition, please make sure you have the latest OneDrive sync client installed on your computer. if it’s not the latest version, please install it from this article. For the OneDrive sync client version information, please see New OneDrive sync client release notes. Once the latest client is installed you should have the Update Folders option.

Thanks,

Neha

Can you please list which subscription plans would let me use "Update folders" feature?

But you can begin saving your files to OneDrive by changing the selections next to each folder name from This PC only to OneDrive

How do I do that?

I have 18.131.0701.0007 version of OneDrive. Is it OK?

Hi Timkaa,

OneDrive for business plan 2 does have the option “Update Folders”. And yes, your OneDrive version is correct.

To investigate the issue further, I would like to confirm the following information:

  1. Please confirm your Windows 10 version and build. Open run command, type Winver, hit enter, you’ll see the version and build.
  2. Provide the screenshot of OneDrive Tabs. For this, right click OneDrive cloud icon on system tray, select Settings, take the screenshot as shown below.
