How do i get rid of file sharing

I want to get rid of file sharing as i am the only one working on this computer.

I originally wanted my PC and Laptop to share my info., but that turned out to be a disaster.
So Google offered this suggestion to disable file sharing:
  • Press ⊞ Win + S . ...
  • Type control panel . ...
  • Click Control Panel.
  • Click Network and Sharing Center.
  • Click Change advanced sharing settings. ...
  • Click the network profile that says “(current profile)” at the end. ...
  • Select Turn off file and printer sharing. ...
  • Click Save changes.
I did everything it asked but not the save changes WILL NOT let me save the changes to STOP file sharing.
Any suggestions?
I never had a problem with my docs until i signed into Microsoft. Big mistake.
Now my files goes to file One Drive, One Drive with my name, roaming app.
Now my files are going to all these locations now
When i try to open the file again it will tell me the file is moved, deleted or it will say directory name isn't valid.
See the attachments above what happens when I open a doc.
Tell me what I am doing wrong to correct this.

Also, if you can send me a link how to share info. between laptop and desktop ONLY.

If you contact me I have attachments to show what I'm talking about.

Signed,
Frustrated and about to cry
Hello ReneeBarnes

You posted your question under the Word sub-category which leads me to believe that what you're really asking about is how to stop saving your documents to OneDrive, instead saving your documents to your local hard drive? Is that assumption correct?

For the sake of this reply, going to assume that the answer is yes (if I'm wrong - just let me know)

The following applies to both Word, Excel & Powerpoint (attached screenshot is from Word but almost identical for the other programs)

#1 - From within Word - click on File
#2 - Click on Options
#3 - Click on <Save> and make the changes as noted in the screenshot

While we're here - could elaborate on "I originally wanted my PC and Laptop to share my info., but that turned out to be a disaster." - what exactly went wrong?

If using OneDrive isn't what you're referring to - were you trying to set up a local network connecting your 2 computers?
