My word frozen in the middle of typing an important document what do I do?

Answer
Answer

hold down Option and Command Keys, then type the esc key either on the keyboard or if you have a MacBook Pro that has the LED fn Key strip, the esc display on it.

A window will appear With each of the applications running.

If the item above was highlighted had Red text instead of white and red warning, noting problem such as application not responding, click force quit. Note: doing this you will lose any change at the time and after the freeze that wasn't saved.  There are supposed to be otherways to Force quit but have never got them to do so. And this seems to the easiets to do.
