How do I change a watermark in word to fill page and lighten it in color for the background?

How do you change a watermark in Word to fill the page as a background and make its color more faded or light?

|

A watermark is just an object—image, text box, shape or SmartArt—anchored to the page header. If you activate the header/footer view, for example by double-clicking the header, you can then select and modify the properties of the watermark/object.

In particular, for a picture, you can use the Transparency control on the Picture Format tab on the ribbon.

You can insert classic WordArt if you add that command to the Quick Access Toolbar. At File > Options > Quick Access Toolbar, choose the "All Commands" category and then find the WordArt commands. Click the Add button to att the icon to the Quick Access Toolbar.

Edit the picture using a different program, then insert in Word.

Word is very poor at graphics editing and when you edit a picture in Word, your file size increases, sometimes dramatically.

I believe that PowerPoint is better at editing pictures, than is Word.
