How can I remove dotted lines in word document

I have dotted lines that appear in a word document. I believe the were caused when I did a three asterisk section break and inadvertently pressed enter which created the line of dots across the page like a page break and without realizing the problem exited the document. which saved the break. now I can't remove the dots. I'm using Microsoft 365 Word, on a PC. I have tried to remove them as a page break, tried to cut and paste the document around the dots -- that just added more lines of dots. Unfortunately I can't get a screen shot and cut and paste doesn't copy the dots, but they do print

Dana,

Put your cursor in the paragraph above the dotted line and press ctrl+Q to remove all formatting for that paragraph. That should remove the dotted line. An altternative Home tab -> Paragraph section -> Border button -> No Border.
