free office for windows 10 download

I have tried downloading the office starter which I lost - it will not download past step 2?

Well it cannot be reinstalled, if it was uninstalled, as it was only supplied pre-installed by some PC makers

This is a free Office type app that can read/create MS Docs https://www.libreoffice.org/

From where are you trying to download the program? Office Starter was only provided as a preinstalled version with new computers from certain manufacturers, so you may have to restore your computer to factory defaults to get Starter back. You may not find it worth the effort. If you don't want to get a new version of Office, try one of the open source alternatives, such as LibreOffice.

I have downloaded microsoft office which gives me a month free then I have to buy the program. If I download Libre Office will it read and operate all my old microsoft files. Thankyou for answering my query

LibreOffice can read and edit Word documents, and it generally does it well. Of course, file compatibility isn't 100% when you convert between file formats and move files between programs.

will now have to think about it- just a quick extra question. I do have a download disk of Office Professional 2003 - would I be able to upload the disk onto my computer & would it work

I have Office 2003 installed on my Windows 10 machine, so it will run. You should be able to install it, but to activate it, you will need to have the license key, which may well be on a label on the disc.
