Font changes apparently at random from normal to italic

We have a company MS365 account. Powerpoints are stored on Sharepoint and opened either in the browser or in the local app which can be Windows or Mac. We use Gilroy semi-bold as the heading font. Anyone in the company can open the files. Sometimes to no apparent pattern all the Gilroy semi-bold in a presentation will change to Gilroy semi-bold italic whilst we have the file open. This happens to more than one presentation. Everyone has the typeface family downloaded to their local machines. This problem occurs whether or not the fonts are imbedded in the presentation.

I'm not sure where to start really. Maybe look at each person's .potx file?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

thanks

Nick

Hi Nick,

First I would like to convey that since the Gilroy font family need to be purchased for using, we are sorry to say that we couldn't test the behavior at our end.

As you mentioned the font style changes from Gilroy semi-bold will change to Gilroy semi-bold italic even all users devices are installed with Gilroy Family fonts, and the behavior happens when the presentation is enabled with embedded font, I request you check whether your PowerPoint application is updated to latest version at all user end.

If yes, you can see the behavior whether this problem with the presentations created by specific user or all users. If the problem happens with the presentations created by most number of users, I assume this behavior should be the compatibility between the third-party font and the PowerPoint app. In this situation, I request you contact the author of the Gilroy font for further help.

In addition, you can also provide the feedback to the related PowerPoint developing team via app-feedback which is the best way to report the behavior. Reference: How do I give feedback on Microsoft Office? - Office Support

Thanks for your understanding!!

Best Regards,

Ivy

This problem is most common with fonts from small foundries that don't have enough testing capability. Try using a paid font from a large foundry. The ITC, Linotype, Bitstream, FontFont and Monotype libraries are all reliable with Office. Or you can use one of the fonts that come with Office. Thanks for your reply (and also Ivy).

Do you know technically why this happens?

I appreciate the suggestion for an alternative font.

Nick
