Error message 0x800CCC1A

I am running Windows 10, 64 bit.  Have Outlook 2013.

I use Outlook to get mail from my Bellsouth.net account and have been doing this for a very long time.

Recently I experience a random issue where I get the following message:

Task 'Bellsouth - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC1A) : 'Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified. Try changing the encryption method. Contact your mail server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for additional assistance.'

In addition it appears as though I cannot send mail from this account either.

The receive part only occur randomly, there are no patterns to this issue.  I have tried to find and answer in the community to this specific issue but cannot find anything.

I run AVG free antivirus and nothing else.

No new updates lately (unless it has been Windows) so I am confused.

I have check the att.net (bellsouth) requirements for set up and everything is to their specs.  This is a pop3 account.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Ray,

The issue you are experiencing may have something to do with your profile or with the Outlook application itself. That being said, we will be performing some troubleshooting steps to isolate the cause of this problem. Before we proceed, kindly answer the following questions:

  • Did you notice any changes on the computer prior to this concern?
  • Have you tried removing and re-adding your Outlook account?
  • Can you send us a screenshot of the error message you are getting? Make sure that you remove all personal information.

In the meantime, we suggest that you perform an online repair via Control Panel. Kindly follow the instructions found on this link. Once done, check if you will still experience the same issue.

Please post back with the result for further assistance.

I did the online repair - almost lost Outlook but was finally to find my Key.

No changes, continued to randomly get the same error and I have attached a screen shot.

Then Deleted the account and tried to reset up and now I cannot set up and get this error.

I have followed your suggestions and have now lost my ability to used Outlook to view my Bellsouth account.

Next steps, PLEASE!!!

Ray

Also I was finally able to get the account set back up.

First attempt to upload/download went smoothly.

Second attempt I received the error as show in the first screen shot above.

Looks like we are back to square one, randomly working.

Any advise would be appreciated.
