Default Excel 2016 Color Palette

Hi,

I'm struggling to set the default Color Palette in Excel 2016. I want it to use the Office 2010 theme. I have read various articles saying I should create a blank workbook, change the color palette to 2010 and then save as a template. I have done this, but each new workbook I create still defaults to the Office 2016 color palette. How do I get all new workbooks to then use that theme? Do I really have to choose the template every time I create a new file?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Answer

Save the 2010 themed file as book.xltx in your XLSTART folder. After that, simply press control+n to get a new copy of that template.
