How do I backup and sync a local custom folder (e.g. XYZ) to OneDrive? I only seem to be able to choose predefined folders (Documents, Pictures etc) in my OneDrive settings.

Hi I'm Taiwo and I'd be happy to help you with your question. In this Forum, We are Microsoft consumers just like yourself. To backup and sync a local custom folder to OneDrive, you can follow these steps carefully: 1. Sign in to your OneDrive account using your Microsoft account. 2. Create a new folder in your OneDrive account that you want to use to sync your custom folder. You can do this by clicking on the "New" button in the OneDrive app and selecting "Folder". 3. Copy the path of the folder you want to sync. For example, if your folder is located at "C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\CustomFolder", copy that path. 4. Right-click on the OneDrive icon in your system tray and select "Settings". 5. Go to the "Account" tab and click "Choose folders". 6. Select the "Sync your OneDrive files to this PC" option. 7. Click "Add folder" and paste the path of your custom folder into the box. Give it a name and click "OK". 8. Click "OK" again to close the OneDrive settings. OneDrive will now sync your custom folder to the folder you created in your OneDrive account. You can access it from any device where you've signed in to OneDrive. To make sure your custom folder is being synced, you can check the OneDrive app or website to see if the files have been uploaded. I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions. Best Regards, Thank You.

Thanks.
I follow up to your point 5, but for point 6, I don't have the "Sync your OneDrive files to this PC" option listed.

You may have a different version of OneDrive, you just have to follow a similar option you see from there henceforth to ''Add Folder''

Nothing related to add folder unfortunately.
Might it be that I originally worked with this folder directly on OneDrive, but due to it's size, replicated it on my local machine to speed up operations. In other words, I have the folder still on OneDrive, but now on my local box as well. I simply want the chages I make locally to reflect on the folder on OneDrive as well.

Like the others who have commented, in attempting to follow your instructions, it is quickly apparent that OneDrive does not look the way you are suggesting. Consequently, the "Sync your OneDrive files to this PC" option (Step 6) does not exist. Furthermore, your later instructions ("(j)ust have to follow a similar option you see from there henceforth to ''Add Folder''") are similarly useless because there is no apparent way to get to the "Add folder" step (Step 7).
My goal is to sync a folder with many subfolders to Onedrive.
Request that you try again to provide instructions on how to do this using the current version of Onedrive. If you can include graphics showing what the screen should look like at each step, which option to select, etc., that would be very helpful.
Thank you.

Hi All,
I think maybe I figured something out as this is silly.
Haha okay well I made a screen shot but cant upload it here.
Go to folder you want to back up -> Right click -> Show more options -> Include in library (doc, pics, music etc)
I.E. you a can add your folder to the folder that onedrive actually backup. work around.
I'm not going to lie, Microsoft, NO ONE IS GOING TO USE EXPLORER EVER, and TWO please stop making me have to use Music, Doc, file locations. NO ONE ACTUALLY DOES EVEN THOUGH IT DOES MAKE SENSE!
That is all.

Files and folders that you put in the OneDrive folder at C:\Users\username\OneDrive sync to OneDrive. You don't need to choose locations.

Ok but I don't want that. I want to have it like the competition....being able to backup folder C:\myfolder to onedrive. Right now if I drag and drop C:\myfolder to OneDrive folder it is moved there. Poor implementation. Why other drive providers let you do this?

I believe with Dropbox you have to put your files in that box also. But I'm not that familiar with the others.
