copy and paste from another program without changing formatting

Hi all,

I would like to copy / paste from an email or webpage directly into a SINGLE cell in Excel. For example, any one of these job advertisements: https://wfscjobs.tamu.edu/job-board/. I want to retain all formatting and hyperlinks. I do NOT want Excel to split the text up into multiple rows (which seems to be the default). Is this even possible???

Thanks

Aaron

You can paste a job ad into a single cell as follows:

  • Select the text of an ad (this turned out to be suprisingly tricky).
  • Press Ctrl+C to copy it.
  • Switch to Excel.
  • Select the target cell.
  • Press F2 or double-click the cell.
  • Press Ctrl+V to paste the text.

This will just paste plain text, though, not the formatting, nor the links.

That doesn't help in this situation, unfortunately, but thank you. Any other program that can do this or something similar

Hi, AaronStoler
My name is Akiva, thanks for participating in the Microsoft Community. I am an Independent Advisor and will try to help you today.

you can use the copy and paste in plain text so that you don't transfer the format to the cell you need.

* just copy the text you want to paste (ctrl + c)
* select the cell in excel
* paste the text into the plain cell (ctrl + v)

If you need more information about it you can follow the following link:

I hope it helps

Hi Akiva,

Thank you for this, but as my original question stated, I DO want to keep all of the original formatting and hyperlinks. Unfortunately, your solution does not work for me.
