Co-pilot Integration with Office Applications

Co-pilot linking to Excel and Word for analysis keeps returning messages saying that AI cannot access private details .. I have opened spreadsheets and documents in both the stand-alone desk-top versions and also the web based versions within Edge yet Co-pilot does not "see" them. What am I doing wrong here? Co-pilot is currently acting only as a search tool. Can someone help me here?
