Change decimal separator from dot to comma in Excel 365 for Mac

I have selected preferred language English UK, number preference 1.234.567,89 and region South-America.

Nevertheless with the latest update in Excel it started to use number preferences 1,234,567.89.

How can I change this in Excel? I have already tried rebooting but that does not lead to the desired result. On Internet I have not found anything to solve this.

Hello,Mattijn HEIJNE

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community.

Based on your description, it looks like Excel's thousand separator rules have changed since the update.

You can follow the steps below to change this setting on your Mac:

  1. Open Excel, click on Excel in the upper left corner and select Preferences;

  2. Select Edit, and the last item in the Edit options is the delimiter setting;

    By default it follows the system, you can uncheck it and change it as you wish.

  • The version of Excel for Mac we used to test your issue was 16.87 (24061913), if you can't find this setting by following my steps, or if you have any other new issues, please reply with your current version (it's available in About Excel in Excel in the top left corner).

I hope the information I have provided helps.

Best Regards,
