Can't sign in to skype for business with working office 365 account (username, password, or domain appears to be incorrect)

Hi all, I recently joined a new organization and got a new office 365 account. This is working, I can log in to portal.office.com and to our sharepoint. All local apps (office): I can log in with the credentials. The issue I have is that I can't log in to Skype for Business 2016. My colleague who has the same account and started on the same day, can log in. Nobody in the org. has this issue (25 people). See below for the error and the steps I have taken and the Skype error log. Can anyone help me?

Many thanks in advance,

Stefan,

The error on the screen :

What did I try

- Log on with my phone (Android): same error

- Log on with pc from colleague: same. My colleague who started at the same data, does not experience the issue, he can login to Skype for Business

- Checked my account: I do have Skype for Business Online activated

- Used Delete Sign In link within Skype

- Cleared Cache: https://kb.uc.edu/KBArticles/Skype-Cache.aspx

- Changed my office 365 password

- used company network and at home network

- Removed Registry key SIP for ****

My situation: laptop windows 10, not located in a domain.

Answer
Answer

Hello Satish, your scenario 3 is right.

The situation is that I enabled two-factor authentication (MFA: SMS via phone), this works on the portal to log in. I got a specific password to pass two-factor authentication for Outlook, since SMS has not been implemented for Outlook. When I use this password to log in to Skype it works

Regards, Stefan
