Cannot setup Imap email account in outlook 2019

Good day,

I am trying to setup a new Imap account in outlook. This is not working. after filling in the mailadres and checking for manual setup. I am asked for kind of account. so far so good. clicking imap and getting prompted for password. After that getting the message logging in to incoming server failed.

No option to set up extra information or what ever.

any ideas?

Thanx for the article. Not my first email setup. But this looks more like program failure to me.

There is a step missing. namely account setup as described in the article...

Hi Rob,

Please remove the image where it shows your mail address in clear text.

As per all the articles I am seeing it, is possible to enter the details. You also need to select the checkbox for SSL/TLS encryption.

all my settings are correct. This has nothing to do with Telfort.

The settings screen shown is all I get. For my imap set up I also need to be able to setup username password etc.

I am missing the possibility to set everything up.

for those wo have the same problem. This problem only occurs when you use an emailcliect which uses a different username then the email adres. 

In this case it is no longer possible to add an account like that to outlook. 

The work around is to add the account in the email settings in configuration screen. There you have the option to fully manual add your settings.

I went crazy too with this new wizard-style account setup. For me the solution was to open the control panel and to open "Mail (Microsoft Outlook 2016)", yes it is stil called like that although Outlook 365/2019 is installed. From there you can add and change accounts just as you always did.

Your solution looks really promising. Do you mind elaborating? How exactly do you open "Mail (Microsoft Outlook 2016)"? I am not seeing a way from the Control Panel (of Windows, I assume). Thanks!
