Cannot crop images in MS PowerPoint 2010

When I am in MS PowerPoint, I can see the crop tool, and it is not shaded out.  When I click on it to crop an image, it looks as though I can crop.  However, it will not let me crop the image.  It won't put the solid black crop line on the dashed lines around the image.  Could my PowerPoint be corrupt?

I did install the capability thing to see if that would help, and it did not...  Please help!

Thank you!
Answer
Answer
What type of image is it?  Certain kinds of graphics can't be cropped.

Try this:

Select the graphic, press Ctrl+C to copy it to the clipboard.

On the Home tab, click the downward-pointing triangle under Paste and choose Paste Special.

In the PasteSpecial dialog box that appears, choose to paste as PNG.

See if you can now crop the newly pasted version of your graphic.
