Can I create a discussion board within a SharePoint page?

As per your description, it seems that you want to create a discussion board on you SharePoint site to allow colleagues in organization/company an opportunity to post and respond conversations workplace. 

In your SharePoint site, based on my test there is two way.

One there is built- in Discussion Board app (list), you may try adding the Discussion Board app via go to site content> click on setting>Add an app to the site can join the discussion.

And the other using Yammer Conversations web part.

You can add Yammer Conversations web part in your SharePoint modern page, please follow the step:

1.Access your SharePoint online site page.

2.Edit page and add Yammer Conversations web part

3.Edit the Yammer Conversations web part, under the "Select conversation source" section, please check "Home Feed" option.

Can you confirm which version of SharePoint Online has Discussion Boards please?

I'm using SharePoint Online Modern and need this app or an equivalent, but ideally my firm do not wish to use Yammer/Viva.

Its under the "classic experience" hyperlink when you go to add apps.

Is this still an option? When I follow the instructions and go to the classic experience, I'm not able to see discussion board?

I would also like to add a discussion board to my SP site but I don't have this option either... I have a communication SP site but no option to add a discussion board app. Please confirm if this is still an option?

Did you search for it? It's still there. The modern experience is just a skin sitting on top of the archaic classic functionality and in 9 years Msft hasn't changed anything in classic. One caveat I have is my users wouldn't use the discussion board because the user experience was so poor. If you can, I'd embed a 3rd party app or look into the PnP SPFx offerings which will work better.

Hello! I am looking for the discussion board also, I have followed multiple instructions and still not able to find this via my companies SP site views.

What would you suggest to use in place of the discussion board?

Hello! I have gone to the "classic experience" hyperlink yet it does not have the option for the discussion board. What other options are available to allow for global collaboration via a type of discussion board in SharePoint?

Someone from Msft would have to explain why you don't see it in the "classic" apps. I checked a site's settings and there's nothing I had to turn on to activate it. Maybe you can find someone who has the stp template file you can get a copy of?
