Hi John,

I'm Diane, an Office Apps & Services MVP specializing in Outlook and an Independent Advisor.

Title: Issue affecting viewing email content in Outlook

User Impact: Users may be unable to view email message content within Outlook.

More info: Initial reports indicate that Outlook on the web is unaffected and users with access to Outlook on the web can view email messages there while we work on a solution.

Current status: We're gathering and analyzing data in an effort to isolate the cause of impact. Initial reports indicate that impact is specific to the Outlook client and users with access to other protocols, such as Outlook on the web or the Outlook mobile app, can view message content in those platforms as a potential workaround.

Scope of impact: This issue could affect any user attempting to view an email message in the Outlook client.

I found that with the "non viewable email" in Outlook, if I go to File / Print, the body appears in the print preview.  A pain but workaround.

Thanks for sharing that workaround - a couple of others mentioned it also.

OMG - that is a pain - but worked! - its only just happened and probably has something to do with installing office in CRM - is there a fix for this or something else I can do

The File > Print works for me too.  But I am not using Office 365.  I am using Office 2019 installed on my computer, and I am getting the same issue.  An update was made last night, which I'm suspecting is where this issue came from.

Here is a try just in case if somebody experience any similar problem at the moment 12.05.2021. https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/na64bj/any_known_outlook_365_issues_this_afternoon/gxrsmtk/

For me the command line, "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13901.20462, shared by bassdeface solved the problem.

This downgraded MSO365 into the version 2103 (Build 13901.20462) https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/current-channel#version-2103-april-23 and my invisible emails came back visible.

Even in the evening 11.05.2021 my Outlook 365 worked just fine. But then suddenly many emails didn't show any content (or most of it) anymore. When I was writing a line then after pressing Enter the line became invisible :) I felt and even now I feel quite nervous - what will be the situation at work tomorrow. The Android MS Outlook App worked fine without this problem.

Hope this helps!

Thanks! This could be it, but one more thing I noticed:

My outlook won't even let me type an email, unless I delete my signature. However, then, every time I hit enter, it deletes whatever I previously typed... Could this also have something to do with this update?

I am the IT Manager of an Aerospace Manufacturing company and i tried to do a rollback to a previous version as I confirmed the latest update for outlook is the culprit. After rolling it back to 16.0.13929.20222 it did not resolve the issue

This is exactly what is happening to me! Except, are you able to explain this in "IT for dummies" terms?

I got here: C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun , but I don't see this exe you refer to.

Or am I supposed to type something in the command prompt? My command prompt starts with C:\Users\"My name" and says "Program is not recognizable when I copy paste your "Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe" into the command prompt...

Thanks!

The suggested workaround to uninstall the current update and revert to the most recent prior update worked for me.  Instructions on how to do this were sent out by others.
