Better-Looking Style Sets for Word

Word’s style functionality work well for my needs, but I'm not a big fan of the built-in "style sets" (Default, Distinctive, etc.).  I know how to create my own styles, and I have a decent aesthetic eye; however, I’d rather use a good-looking style that somebody else has already created.  I tried searching the web, but didn't find much that was of help.  Where might I find an importable aftermarket style set if they even exist?  This is a question of fonts, colors, sizes, spacing, etc. vs. Default, Distinctive, or any of the other built-in style sets that came with my Word -- and IS NOT a question of style guides for memos, invoices, résumés, etc.  Please help.  Thanks!

Are you referring to Quick Style Sets? Note that if you are not happy with the built-in sets, you can create your own.

Yes, thank you.  I do know how to create or change a Quick Style Set.  My question is:  are there other Quick Style Sets available on the web that look better than those built into Word and that can be imported into Word?  I want to avoid building one myself and to use something nice looking created by somebody with more talent than me.  Something that looks better than what comes standard in Word.  Thanks!

Microsoft doesn't offer any style sets online (as far as I know), only templates. To find any third-party style sets, you will have to use Google or whatever search engine is your favorite.

Perhaps you could be more specific on what you are looking for?

I’m searching for a better-looking alternative to the Default, Distinctive, Elegant, etc. “style sets” that come in Word.  I know that I can make my own, but I am hoping to find a style set that somebody with a better eye than me has already created and that I can easily import into Word on my computer.  I've searched the internet, but have found nothing useful. This is surprising to me.  I would think that aftermarket style sets would be common as style sets can be readily customized by ordinary Word users and especially by users that care about having really good-looking documents.  Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I think you have a greater chance to find a useful template than a style set. Templates have been around a lot longer and people are generally more familiar with templates than with style sets.

There used to be some good articles on style sets (and also on themes and document defaults) on the Microsoft blog, but these are long gone now, unfortunately.

Thank you for trying to help.  So, the answer is “no.”  It seems unbelievable in today’s world of user customization and the easiness with which new style sets can be made in Word that better-looking style sets have not been created and shared.  Perhaps people that really care about the way a document looks and reads are using publishing software that is more advanced than what a Word user is interested in.  Guess I’ll just have to create my own style set that I like!
