AUTOCORRECT (MACROS) IN WORD 2010 NOT WORKING IN MY TEXT DOCUMENTS

Hi!  I work doing  medical transcription from home.  I use a company based platform that interfaces through Word.  I use MS Word 2010.  When I make macros through autocorrect in Word and try to apply them in my document, most of them do not work.  Is there a compatibility issue?  Something I need to enable or turn off or do?  I am very frustrated as I need to increase my productivity as I get paid by the line and when my macros do not work I have to type the entire document.   THANKS!

There's some confusion of terminology here.

AutoCorrect is a feature that automatically replaces certain words (or strings of characters that aren't necessarily words) with other text when you press the spacebar or punctuation. You control it through the AutoCorrect Options dialog, reached from the Proofing page of the main Options dialog.

Macros are programming code that can make replacements but also can do lots of other things. They don't run automatically, with a few exceptions. You create them either by running the macro recorder or by manually writing code.

Can you please clarify which feature you're asking for help with?

If it's really AutoCorrect, it's possible you aren't using the correct steps to create new ones (read this page), or maybe you are using the right steps but for some reason the information isn't being saved. Another wrinkle is that AutoCorrect entries are specific to particular languages; and if Word is allowed to guess (often wrongly) about which language is applied to part of the document, then AutoCorrect entries for your main language wouldn't work.

If it's really macros, there are four or five conditions that might prevent them from working, and we'd have to do some investigation.
