Adding positive and negative value in Excel 2013

Hi,

I am trying to add the value of one cell witch has a positive value with the content of another witch has a negative value.

The numbers don't add. Excel doesn't recognize the negative value of one cell. It adds the two value as positive value.

Why? Can someone provide me with a link for a tutorial about this annoyance and/or a formula.

The two cells are formatted as Number?

ie

A1 12.58

B1 -4.50

=A1+B1

Or

A1 12.58

B1 4.50

=A1-B1

Note that the cells are formatted as currency and that further research on the Internet allowed me to find my problem.

Sorry for the delay replying to this,

Not being an expert of Excel, I realized afterward that using a formula where I subtracted a negative value from a positive value, the returned result is a positive value.

I just had to add a negative value to positive value to get the proper value.
