Adding different page numbers at the bottom of columns
I have a single document with each page split into 2 columns; the page is orientated landscape, so when I print it out, I can fold it into a C5 size (i.e. half A4).
I want to add page numbers which will be different at the bottom of each COLUMN, [not each (Word) page], so that the finsihed folded document will show different page numbers on the bottom of each 'page' (= a column), and thus have two page numbers on each
sheet of A4 paper.
How can I sue Word to do this automatically please? Or do I just have to do manul inserts in the page footers, guessing the location of the middle of each column?

Since you're trying to make a booklet, you should not be trying to use columns at all. Instead, use the "Book fold" setting under "Multiple pages" on the Margins tab of Page Setup. This will give you two A5 pages on an A4 sheet, and the pagination will
be automatic. Although pages will be displayed in numerical order, they will print in the proper order for folding into a booklet. The number of pages in the booklet must be a multiple of 4.
