Adding a list of annexures/attachments

Adding a list of annexures/attachment to a word document. I know that we know have te ability to add bibliographies and citations into a word document,

  1. How do we add the particular reference at the end of a parragraph cicting the particular reference?
  2. Can we use the document elements tab in a similare way as for the creation of the bibliography?
  3. Also does anyone know if there is an automated facility within word to create a list of annexures within the same/different document?
THanks in advance and merry christmas, a bit late I know but better late than never, and a happy and safe new year to you all.
Pardon my ignorance, but I'm afraid I have no idea what you're asking :-} I'm not familiar with the term 'annexure' & no reference I've consulted defines the term, nor do I know of any way you can 'attach' anything to a Word document.

Can you please clarify what it is that you want to do & how it differs from normal citations? You might also have a look at the Type of Source list at the top of the Create New Source dialog to see if one of the options there might work for you.

Bob J.

You can use the built-in Citations feature described here:
http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-insert-a-citation-in-word-2011-for-mac.html

A more robust citation feature is made by EndNote

Regarding  annexures, perhaps you are thinking of the Index feature

Hopefully I guessed right at least once.

An Annexure is an attachment to a document that is not added in the document itself but only referred to in a reference.

For example:

I conducted 10 interviews. A list of the interviews are attached as "Annexure A", etc.

Then you prepare a file with your document and add all your annexures after the document from Annexure A to Z (or whichever is your last).

The issue here is: I am referring to 30 Annexures in my document, however, in order for me to list all these documents as part of my index I have to manually go through the document and list each of them.

stevemann12 is asking if there is any way that you can generate such a list like you would generate a Table of Contents.

The short answer is that Word can do what you are asking for if you use styles. The general procedure is outlined here:

http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/word-2011-for-mac-make-a-table-of-contents-automat.html

I think if you set up your styles properly you could have Word automatically create a TOC that does what you are asking about.
