Add document location to quick access toolbar

I just updated my Office 365.

I used to have document location displayed in the quick access toolbar which showed the filename and path.

I no longer see document location as an option to add to the QAT.

Can you help me find it and get both filename and path displayed in the QAT

Hi BOLOKE,

I'm Adie, and I'm happy to help you today.

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

Have you tried to add it by going to:

1. File > Options > Quick Access Toolbar.
2. Select All Commands and scroll down to find “Document Location”?

If you still can’t find it. Try repairing your Office.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/repa...

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,
Adie

Well, it seems like "document location" is now called "address [document location]" so it is alphabetically under "A" instead of under "D" which I discovered.

I'm all set now.

Thank you Adie for finding that name change!!! Microsoft tried to make me go nuclear (uninstalling office and reinstalling)... So frustrating as they make changes for the sake of change without letting support know!

I have similar issues with Outlook commands as I am sure others do across Office...

As a follow-up, the quick access command for "Find Messages by Sender" has been renamed to Messages From Sender [Find Messages by Sender].

Previously right next to it was "Find Messages by Subject" which they chose NOT to change until next time just to upset those who they missed the first time.

Very frustrating!!! The more you know...

This is the Excel version I have on my mac:

How can I show the file path on the QAT? I don't see Document Location or Address [document location] under the "All Commands" list.

The "address [document location]" now shows the WEBDAV address which doesn't work to add the document as an attachment or copy/paste. We use sharepoint/onedrive so that very odd looking address is showing up instead of the folder path based we are used to.

Is there any way to get the old 'Document Location' back to the QAT?

Thanks,

Kim

You can pin Word Excel etc to the taskbar, if that is what you mean? In the Windows Search box type>Word 365>The Word App should be listed>Right click on it>Choose>Pin to taskbar.

PS: Or if you mean you want File Explorer on the taskbar>In the Windows Search Box type>File Explorer>File Explorer App should be listed>Right click on it and choose>Pin taskbar.

What I am looking for is the "Document Location" quick access toolbar option that went missing at some point during an update.

When added to the QAT it would present me with the file path to the document I was working on. It was replaced with an option which shows me the WebDav location in our SharePoint shared documents.

I could use that path to attach a file or simply know where the file I was working on was being stored.

I can send you a screenshot if that would be helpful. I'm away from my laptop at this moment.

Hi Kim, I was miles away from your point. I am in the middle of something right now, but have a look at this to see if it helps: Customize the Quick Access Toolbar (microsoft.com)
