Issues With XBox Music On WP8 - Metadata

We've created this post to address some issues with managing the metdata of your music collection with Xbox Music and Windows Phone 8, as compiled by dmmontal in the Master List Of Issues With XBox Music On WP8 thread.  We'll be continue to update this thread with news as we work towards a resolution to these items.

- Even with "Connect with XBox Music" option ticked, Album/Artist Artwork often does not download where missing, or wrong artwork is downloaded.
- WP8 device does not recognize any metadata for Multiple Discs, Song Ratings, Release Date, etc from existing music collections. Albums with multiple discs display tracks in order of 1,1,2,2,3,3, etc. instead of 1,2,3,1,2,3, etc. WP7 usually correctly recognized all data, and accurately reflected (synced) metadata between device and PC.

Thank You,

Hi all,

We have improved the music sync experience in the latest update for Windows Phone 8 and the Windows Phone apps for your PC.

To install this update, go to Settings> phone update and tap check for updates. If your phone appears to be up to date, it may be that it isn't available yet for your specific phone, mobile operator, or market.

To install the current sync app, go to Get the sync apps. You may need to delete and resync your music collection on the phone after installing the updates.

To find out more, go to Windows Phone 8 update central.

Thanks for your patience while we worked to deliver this update,

Microsoft Surface Team
