After update app won't start, app developer does not respond

Some days ago I installed an updated of the Astroller app (ISS view) and now the app won't start.

I have the paid version of the app and already contacted Heliotrope Software but after days absolute no response!

If you look at the store you'll see that others having the same issue using the Astroller app.

What can I do as paying customer of such an app?

Uninstall the app

Go to Settings -> Applications (to the right) -> Internet Explorer and tap on delete history

Go to Settings -> phone storage -> phone -> temp files and clear them (may not be available on your phone)

Hold the power and volume down buttons until the phone reboots

Reinstall the app

If it's still failing then contact support here and they'll MAY able to refund it for you:

Refunding it will strip the license from your account, so if it the developer updates it to work again you'll have to repurchase it.

FYI: Uninstalling an app will also erase related data in IS (Isolated Storage) for that app!

Even so I also deleted temporary files.

Got a new update and the developer claims that the bug was fixed.

Even so I experience the same issue: Starting the it will close itself after 1-2 seconds.

I wonder why that issue was not found during the app certification process ....

Because that certificatoin process does not really look at bugs within the app - it loooks for policy compliance more so.

Its the Devs responsability to create an app that actually works.

Thanks not correct. I am a software developer developing apps for WP and I can tell you that at least so called "smoke tests" are done! Also if an app requires user+password you have to provide test credentials so that the tester is able to use full functionality of the app.

But it depends on the person who is testing the app. In the past I didn't provide that credentials and passed certification. But one time certification failed because of missing that test credentials. Now, I always provide that test credentials to ensure to pass certification.

Maybe MS changes this but quality is also a concern of "app certification".

Today I had a chat with MS Support: After one hour the result: They can't do the refund since it was done via my mobile operator ...

Btw, sometimes I had the feeling not talking to a human. Some answers were like from an AI software ;-)

I am disappointed that it is so easy for software companies getting money from people and so difficult to get the money back (for good reasons):

... red boxed text: confirmation that I bought a product from Microsoft!

... yellow colored text: Payment method: Mobile operator
