WP8.1 - Maps on SD card

Here we go again. Back to years old problems that Nokia fixed.

Microsoft in their infinite wisdom and continuing their Nokia improvements killing spree have unpublished the Lumia Storage Check Beta app making the storing of maps on SD card impossible (as far as I know).

So, any one got any ideas or is aware of any hack that would allow setting the needed registry settings?

The old lumia-storage-check-beta.xap can't be deployed, sideloaded, launched from phone, nothing.

This platform is starting to try my patience really hard.

Indeed. This is just shocking.

I wonder what the people with 8 GB devices and 3 GB worth of apps already installed will do. Stop each time they enter another country, look for a wifi hotspot, delete an old map, download a new one ?

On the android version of here maps, you can install the maps on the SD card without problems. Are Microsoft telling us something???

Add me to the list of people that regard this omission from the Windows Phone platform as being truly stupid.

Agreed. I have storage check beta on my L830 and my extensive range of maps on my Sd card. I downloaded the WP10 TP and didnt like it and went back to 8.1 but my Lumia storage check app is gopne and I cannot get it back and now I do not know how to get maps to the Sd card. This should be an option within the maps app itself. What to do?????

It's working for me. WP 8.1 on a Lumia 635. I also tried WP 10 and rolled back to 8.1. Look for Storage Sense under settings.

The maps app and the downloaded maps are all on my SD card (all 145MB worth). The way to check (on my phone at least) is under settings/system/storage sense. Click on that, then SD card, then apps+games to see the list

It's no longer a separate app as in the past, but buried under settings. Also, check that in the top level of storage sense that the options are set to install to the SD card
